2021 MLCRA ANNUAL MEETING

Meeting Overview

MLCRA’s 21st annual meeting took place via Zoom on May 5, 2021 with over forty participants including MLCRA representatives from fourteen of the 17 MLCRA  member  communities.  A recording of the speakers' portion of the program is at the bottom of the page.

The top two Senators and the top two Representatives from the Joint Committee on Elder Affairs of the Massachusetts legislature were among the featured speakers. Senate Chair Patricia Jehlen, Senate Vice Chair Julian Cyr, House Chair Thomas Stanley and House Vice Chair Kate Lipper-Garabedian discussed legislative issues concerning seniors.  Topics included services in Assisted Living, the financing of long-term care, and workforce issues. The legislators also shared stories about their personal connections to senior issues.

Elissa Sherman, President of LeadingAge Massachusetts, spoke about what providers had learned during the pandemic.   She gave a recap of the recent LeadingAge conference, which included discussions of workforce issues, the use of technology, new models of care, the importance of community, and telling a positive story about senior care.

The business meeting followed the speakers, including the President's Report, Treasurer's Report, 'tour' of the MLCRA website, and election of officers. Click/tap here to see the 2021-2022 Board.
