2020 MLCRA ANNUAL MEETING

2020 MLCRA Annual Meeting Postponed

The Massachusetts Life Care Residents’ Association annual meeting brings together MLCRA members from retirement communities throughout the Commonwealth.  It is a wonderful opportunity to meet new people, exchange ideas, and discuss issues of common concern.

The annual meeting is hosted each year by a different retirement community. This year’s meeting was scheduled to take place at Lasell Village in Newton on June 3, 2020.  We have had to postpone it because of the coronavirus pandemic.  We hope to hold the meeting at Lasell Village later this year.

We had arranged an interesting program for the June meeting.  State Senator Patricia Jehlen and State Representative Ruth Balser, the Co-Chairs of the Joint Committee on Elder Affairs in the Massachusetts legislature, had agreed to be the keynote speakers.  When it is possible to hold a meeting, we will work with their offices to schedule a date on which they can participate.

The work of the Joint Committee on Elder Affairs is important for seniors. We anticipate learning about the scope of the Committee’s work as well as discussing pending bills of concern to residents of retirement communities.  We will also talk about the best ways for MLCRA and its members to communicate with their legislators.

The agenda for the annual meeting will include election of the 2020-2021 MLCRA Board of Directors.  A nominating committee is seeking candidates from MLCRA communities.  There will also be small group discussions to consider MLCRA priorities and activities for the future.
